Grease ain't the word as John Travolta snubbed by British KFC worker

Travolta was in England last week for an annual Scientology meeting when one of his representatives called a local KFC outlet and asked to reserve a table for the actor and his friends, according to the Daily Mail yesterday.

But the employee who handled the request simply explained that if Travolta wanted to dine there, he would have to wait in line like everyone else.

KFC headquarters said later the restaurant should have accommodated the request.

"In hindsight, of course, we would have reserved a table for him," explained a spokesperson. "It's not every day you get a Hollywood star eating in your restaurant."

But the unnamed employee stood by his actions, saying, "To me, customers are customers, no matter who they are. It doesn't make a difference if someone is famous."

"The lady who called didn't give me her name, she just said it will be for a Mr Travolta. That threw me a little bit. I thought it might be a load of nonsense, but she seemed pretty serious."

Travolta was in the country to attend a meeting at Saint Hill Manor, a mansion in Saint Hill Green which Scientology founder L Ron Hubbard bought in 1959 and which has since become the UK headquarters for the religion.

Maybe next time he wants fast food, Travolta will opt instead for the burger made famous by his Pulp Fiction character Vincent - "a Royale with Cheese".
